Protection x Armour

Protection x Armour

Drawing from the grotesque and dramatic terrain of Tongariro National Park — where volcanic sand dunes collide with towering mountains often dusted in snow — the visual direction for the music video centred on creating a look reminiscent of medieval armour, rendered in deep, dark purple.

The fabrication choice was cupro, selected for its naturally occurring frosting effect — a subtle surface texture formed during the textile’s production process. This weathered finish aligned seamlessly with the raw, elemental aesthetic requested by the client, echoing both the harsh beauty of the landscape and the emotional tone of the project.

A two-tone purple and black piping trim was introduced along the gown, adding definition and structural emphasis. This same fabric was repurposed as the primary shell material for the gloves, ensuring cohesion across the full look. Inside the structured elements, the fabrication produces a slightly stark crushing effect, particularly through the sleeve gloves, enhancing the armour-like quality of the silhouette.

The final composition balances severity and elegance — a garment that feels both protective and exposed, shaped by landscape, texture, and a reimagined medieval sensibility.
