Outside world EP

Outside world EP

Commissioned during a period marked by emotional isolation, Lola initiated a third major collaboration for her debut Outside World EP. The brief called for a striking half-body visual identity to accompany the singles — delivered as a series of short clips designed for streaming platform covers.

In response, a modular garment system was developed to embody cohesion without repetition. A reversible top and interchangeable skirt formed the foundation of the EP’s visual language. The top was engineered with four distinct styling options, while the skirt could be worn independently or layered, allowing multiple silhouettes across releases without losing continuity. As the EP rollout evolved, the skirt was further adapted with a detachable train for live performance, extending the narrative from digital artwork into physical stage presence.

Material contrast became central to the design language. Feathers introduced fluid colour and movement, offsetting the rigidity of the structured exterior. The top was constructed from metal-sandwiched cotton PU, creating a sculptural, almost armoured surface. On the reverse, up-cycled Japanese obi fabric was revealed through raw seam finishes, allowing the piece to be worn inside out and celebrating both craftsmanship and sustainability. Metal domes along the right side secure a detachable spike collar, reinforcing the tension between delicacy and strength that defines the overall look.

The result is a visual system that mirrors the EP’s emotional landscape — layered, adaptive, and unapologetically structured, yet alive with movement.
